Toilet Training Your Miniature Australian Shepherd Puppy

Toilet training your miniature Australian Shepherd puppy is very important not only for the little puppy but for you as the dog owner.  You would not want your dog to just pee or leave his poop anywhere inside your house, especially in your expensive carpet and furniture.

As young as your mini aussie puppy is, you need to train him where to pee and poo properly so your house will not smell stinky.  The trick is to train your little puppy where to pee and poo and when to do it.  Having a scheduled time everyday will help avoid instances of having your puppy go anytime he feels the need to.

One thing that you must consider when toilet training your mini Aussie puppy is you need to exercise a lot of patience.  It simply does not come that easy, and you do not need to beat your puppy to death if in case it pees or poos in your carpet.

Because you are trying to toilet a train a puppy, you need to know that just like little babies, your mini Aussie puppy does not know how to control his bladder and may just eliminate any time they feel.  As a cautious pet owner, you then have the prerogative to take out your puppy regularly to give him time to pee and poo.

It is best to take out your puppy upon waking up, after eating and just before sleeping.  But of course, it would be more effective to take your pup out once every hour or at least 2 hours.  This will condition the mind of your mini Aussie puppy that the toilet is outside and not inside the house.  Do you know that dogs will look for the place where they last left their waste by smelling for it?  Hence you need to bring him to that place every time.  It also makes it easier for the puppy to pee and poo.

It would be very fulfilling in your part as the owner of a miniature Australian Shepherd puppy to see how your puppy avoids staining your carpet and furniture, but always remember that there will always be instances when your puppy will fail no matter how toilet trained he has been.  When this happens, just remember not to punish your puppy or push his nose to the spot where he left his pee and poo because it will only make him hate you and possibly instill negative behavior to your puppy.

Steps to Own a Miniture Australian Shepherd

Adopting a little dog like a miniture Australian Shepherd can be easy.  There are several possibilities that you may use to find a puppy that you will like.  Dog shelters are a good place to find a good selection of dogs that you may want to look at.

Miniture Aussies are a popular choice as family pets.  The average size of this dog is a height of 14 to 18 inches and a weight of 9 to 14kg.  Taking a look at its average body size, owning this type of dog may give you the confidence that your children are safe around your new pet.

Kids always need to be considered before you make that final decision of owning whatever pet you may want.  In this case, you will need to orient your kids first about dogs, particularly the miniture Aussie.

It is also recommended to spend some time first with the dog you want before you really adopt it.  A one-time encounter with the dog is not enough to assess the character of the dog that you are planning to adopt.

Other things that you may want to consider are some health issues that a dog may have.  Owning a dog requires additional budget for the new member of your family.  You need to be prepared to spend a part of your finances for the food, grooming and health needs of your dog.

There is a need to think, and not once, not twice, but several times, before making that major decision of owning a dog.  Compare the pros and cons.  Make sure your house has enough space to have a dog and be sure that you are also prepared to spare some of your time for the care of your dog.

Whatever your final decision is, always remember, will the miniture Australian shepherd bring you more joy than problems?  If you can give a “yes” as an answer, then go ahead and have fun owning a new dog.

How to Impose Obedience to Your Australian Shepherds Puppies

Having Australian Shepherds puppies in your homes can bring you bundles of joy, but you need to teach it how to behave properly so you won’t get headaches every time your puppy misbehaves.  Imposing obedience to your puppy is a very essential both for you and your pup.

The Aussie pup is conditioned to obey the rules that you set, the moment you have him trained to be obedient.  The first thing that you need to do is to learn how to communicate with your pup.  Proper communication is an integral part of training your dog for obedience.  If you do not know how to communicate properly with your puppy, you cannot convey the message that you are trying to relay.  So how is it done?   Talk to your puppy and demonstrate it so that your pup understands what you are trying to say.

Seeing your Aussie urinate and defecate on your carpets will pretty much irritate you, but you can do something about this by giving your pup the proper toilet training.  Showing them a place to regularly urinate and defecate on will prevent accidents in the future.

Several puppies have died because they get hit by speeding cars in the streets.  You will need to train your pup never to go into the streets, especially when you open your doors or your gates.

Unwanted behaviors that we may see in our Aussie puppies are actually normal behaviors for a puppy.  Hence as a responsible dog owner, it is our duty to impose discipline to our pet and make them behave properly inside our homes.

When imposing obedience, it is important to establish your authority to the puppy.  The moment your pup acknowledges you as having authority over him, training comes in easily.  Just as how you will impose discipline to a child, doing it the military way will not accomplish what you want.  Earn the respect of your pet by showing him that you care for them and you love them.

Dog commands like “No”, “Stay”, and “Sit” when training and use it every time you want them to obey those commands.  Hearing these commands repeatedly will make them understand what you are trying to convey.  Remember that Aussies are very intelligent.

Whatever the outcome of your Australian Shepherds puppies training will be make an effort in acknowledging your dog for any good behavior it exhibits.   Never maltreat your Aussie if you have difficulty training it.  You can never teach a pup to behave if you show them your anger.
