How to Prepare your Home for Your Mini Australian Shepherd Puppies

The idea of bringing home a puppy will surely be one exciting event for the entire family.  However, you need to make sure that the pup does not get too frightened the moment it steps inside your house.  Preparing your house for your new mini Australian Shepherd puppies includes providing them with a new home that will make them feel relaxed and secure.

Before you set a date on when to bring the mini Aussie puppy home, there are some house preparations that you will need to give details to.  The very first thing that you will need to do is to look at all the things inside your house and look at it like you are the puppy.  While looking at all the things inside the house, ask yourself how would you react when you would see those things if you were a puppy.

If there should be anything inside your house which may be in danger from being ripped off by a mini Australian Shepherd puppy, try to move it somewhere out of the pups reach.  You do not have to worry of forever keeping your things out of your puppy’s reach, because as soon as your mini Aussie knows what his place in your household is, you can slowly return the things that you kept away from him into its proper places.

One important thing that you need to prepare for your pup is a place for it to sleep.  Providing your pup with a crate is advisable.  A crate should be not too big so that it is enough for him to stand up and turn around.  A crate that may be larger than his size is not advisable because the mini Aussie may use a portion of it for sleeping and another portion for leaving his pee and poo.  It should also be placed a place where he can see the entire family together.  That way he does not feel isolated.

Be prepared for constant whining and barking the moment you take home your mini Australian Shepherd puppies.  It is like having a new baby in the family who may constantly cry all night through.  You will need to bear with it for the first few weeks or even months as the pup adjusts to its new environment.  The most important thing is for you as the owner to make it feel secure in its new home, to make the adjustment period easy.

How to Impose Obedience to Your Australian Shepherds Puppies

Having Australian Shepherds puppies in your homes can bring you bundles of joy, but you need to teach it how to behave properly so you won’t get headaches every time your puppy misbehaves.  Imposing obedience to your puppy is a very essential both for you and your pup.

The Aussie pup is conditioned to obey the rules that you set, the moment you have him trained to be obedient.  The first thing that you need to do is to learn how to communicate with your pup.  Proper communication is an integral part of training your dog for obedience.  If you do not know how to communicate properly with your puppy, you cannot convey the message that you are trying to relay.  So how is it done?   Talk to your puppy and demonstrate it so that your pup understands what you are trying to say.

Seeing your Aussie urinate and defecate on your carpets will pretty much irritate you, but you can do something about this by giving your pup the proper toilet training.  Showing them a place to regularly urinate and defecate on will prevent accidents in the future.

Several puppies have died because they get hit by speeding cars in the streets.  You will need to train your pup never to go into the streets, especially when you open your doors or your gates.

Unwanted behaviors that we may see in our Aussie puppies are actually normal behaviors for a puppy.  Hence as a responsible dog owner, it is our duty to impose discipline to our pet and make them behave properly inside our homes.

When imposing obedience, it is important to establish your authority to the puppy.  The moment your pup acknowledges you as having authority over him, training comes in easily.  Just as how you will impose discipline to a child, doing it the military way will not accomplish what you want.  Earn the respect of your pet by showing him that you care for them and you love them.

Dog commands like “No”, “Stay”, and “Sit” when training and use it every time you want them to obey those commands.  Hearing these commands repeatedly will make them understand what you are trying to convey.  Remember that Aussies are very intelligent.

Whatever the outcome of your Australian Shepherds puppies training will be make an effort in acknowledging your dog for any good behavior it exhibits.   Never maltreat your Aussie if you have difficulty training it.  You can never teach a pup to behave if you show them your anger.

Australian Shepherd Breeder – Want To Be A Breeder?

Do you own an adult Australian Shepherd?  Are you interested to become an Australian Shepherd breeder?  If you answered yes to both questions, then here is what you must do.  Before you even start selecting a mate for your pet, you have to consider several factors first.  Breeding is not as easy as finding a mate and then seeing little puppies come into life.  There is actually more to it.

As the owner of the female Aussie, you should remember that you are the one responsible of taking care of the mother throughout her pregnancy including giving birth to her puppies, and taking care of the puppies until they get adopted by their new owners.  Aside from the financial aspect, you will also need to provide extra care for the female Aussie during pregnancy.

If you have thought of the above things and you are still willing to breed, proceed with finding the perfect mate for your Aussie.  In choosing a mate, find a male Aussie owner who you can deal with easily.  Trust me, sometimes good owners are harder to find than good dogs.  Once you find a good dog owner, make an arrangement with regards parenting responsibilities.  This is very important especially if you should come to an arrangement that the puppies will be divided equally.

After the birth of the puppies, you will have to take extra care of both the nursing mother and the puppies.  When the puppies reach nine weeks of age, you can start doing training.  This is the best time to train them to be obedient.  Obedient pups are a big plus at the time consider giving up the pups for adoption.

Because you want to be a breeder, you will not have to keep the puppies to yourself so you will now need to start the adoption process.  The first and most important thing that you must do is to bring your puppies to a vet for a checkup.  Vaccines should also be considered as most dog buyers would want to make sure they are making a good deal and they are bringing home a healthy dog.

If you want to be a good Australian Shepherd breeder, do not just give the dog to anybody who wants to own them.  Be considerate and screen the potential owner.  Will the puppy be safe in this new environment?  If you feel secure enough that your puppy is in good hands, then it is time to let go of your puppies.  Odd as it may be, some breeders get emotionally attached to their little pups and often find it hard to let go of them.
