About Australian Shepherds: How To Stop It From Developing Bad Behaviors

As a pet owner, we want only to be the best for our pets and to see them behave well and be better than other pets owned by other pet owners.  We can only get them to be their best or be well behaved if we know enough information about our pet.  So if you are a proud owner of an Aussie, you will need to gather a lot of information about Australian shepherds so you’ll know the best thing to do for your pet to behave well.

If you have had your Aussie as a puppy, you may agree with me that there have been instances when your dog behaved badly.  This could have been prevented if you were able to train your dog properly.  It can be done with the help of training programs.

We   need to know however, that even if a dog goes through a training program, there will always be some unwanted behavior that may slip through, but it seldom happens and it would be more controllable for a dog that has been trained as compared to one who is not.

So now that you know that you need to train your dog, you will need to decide how the training should go.  You can get books and training materials which can be a great help for training your pup, but be sure that you have enough time and energy to do the training yourself.

If you cannot do the dog training yourself, you may try looking for dog training classes within your community or buy training videos which will assist you in getting rid of any unwanted dog behaviors.

Most pet owners are surprised at how easy it actually is to fix up unwanted dog behaviors.  It is a matter of learning how to communicate properly with your dog.

Controlling your Aussie can be tough because of its distinct characteristics, but once you are able to equip yourself of information about Australian Shepherds, you may be surprised at how lovely it is to own a one.

What You Need to Know About Mini Australian Shepherds

Are you fond of dogs?  Have you always wished that you have a dog as a pet?  If you do, then it is high time you know what breed to acquire.  Today, there are hundreds and thousands of canine breeds.  One of the most adorable to look at and own one is the mini Australian shepherds.  They have nice size and body but definitely smaller than their counterpart.

Just like its bigger counterpart, this particular dog breed should not be mistaken as a simple pet alone.  Even if they may qualify as pet toys, by nature, these dogs are still considered workers or working dogs.  In most cases, these dogs are developed and raised in ranches in the western part of the United States.  This is because Aussies, as it is popularly called, are naturally born active.  They get easily bored if they do not have anything to do.   When this happens, instead of helping their masters, they tend to ruin things just so they are preoccupied with something.  Nevertheless, when properly trained and loved, these Aussies will definitely bring delight and entertainment, not to mention a reliable and helpful partner at work, to everyone.

Alternatively, even if these particular classifications of Aussies are well-loved and used in ranches or farms, standard dog organizations such as Australian Shepherd Club do not recognize them as a type of Aussies.  For them, when you say mini it only means a smaller version of the Aussie.

One particular reason why most dog organizations for Aussies do not recognize miniature Aussies is that they want to persuade their members to only recognize one breed for Aussies.  In this way, the Aussie breed is maintained in any way possible and those that fall below the standard characteristics of Aussies does not mean another breed but only a variation branching out from the main breed.

Boiled down, recognized or not, mini Australian shepherds are still considered helpful pets, not to mention cute and adorable ones.  So the next time you want something cheerful for company, consider this particular Aussie.

Things to Consider Before Buying Australian Shepherd Puppies

There are several things that you will need to consider as a pet owner before you decide to buy Australian Shepherd Puppies.  These dogs are not toys that you can just dispose it anytime you get tired playing with it nor should you find anything defective with it.   An Aussie is different from other dogs as they have a distinct character that makes it unique from other dogs.

You need to know that Australian Shepherds are the type of dogs that are dominant.  As their name implies, Aussies are the bred that can control a herd of sheep.  If you should contain them inside your house where they have no sheep to take care of, there is a very large chance that it is their owner that they will attempt to control.  It is then up to you as their owner if you will submit to your dog.

Aussies require training.  While some dogs can be placed inside your house without necessary training, it will be difficult if you do the same to an Aussie.  This will require you to allot ample time to train your puppy.  So if you are the very busy executive type, you have to think twice before making any purchase.

Exercise is very important for an Aussie.  So as not to make it hard for you, you can take your dog for an exercise with you.  This way, the two of you get to exercise together.  An Aussie without exercise will become bored and may act nastily.  Play is also a form of exercise for this dog.

Australian Shepherds are very loyal dogs.  They are the type of breed that gets too attached to their owners, and I mean literally.  They will refuse to leave your side the moment they get so attached.  You will have to get used to the idea that wherever you will go, somebody or rather your dog will be tailing you.

After reading some very important facts on the traits that you can find in Australian Shepherd Puppies, then maybe you can now decide as to whether or not you should consider purchasing one.

How to Raise a Fine Red Merle Australian Shepherd

Want a dog?  Owning a dog and being able to raise it as a fine well-behaved pet can be a very rewarding experience.  You must understand however, that raising a pet to have fine manners isn’t that easy.  A Red Merle Australian Shepherd is no exemption.  You will need to put in hard work in training it.  The younger the dog is, the easier it is to train.  Disregarding the need to train a dog well at an early age may increase the chance of seeing your dog grow up into a beast.

So you may ask, what is the best way to raise a fine mannered Aussie?  There are actually several ways to do it.  Below are some important tips you need to follow when training your pup:

1. Love your Aussie

When you love your dog, it feels secured around you.  Security is very important to a dog.  The more they feel secured, the more they will show a happy attitude.

2. Give it regular checkups with a Veterinarian

Regular visits to the vet will guard your dog from illness.  As vaccines are important to human beings, dogs also need to get vaccinated from diseases, especially heartworm, which happens to be one of the leading causes of canine deaths.

3. Train your dog

You can do the training yourself or you can hire an expert to do it for you.  Well trained Aussies appear to be happy as compared to dogs without training.

4. Exercise your dog

Playing with your dog can be a good exercise.  Aussies love to play with their owners, especially Frisbees.  They are very good at this type of sport.

5. Let your dog socialize

Exposing your dog to other people will make your dog comfortable with strangers and be comfortable with seeing other people other than its owner.  This prevents your dog from reacting violently when seeing strangers.

Raising an Aussie can be rewarding, but raising a fine Red Merle Australian Shepherd can be much more rewarding.  You get to have a pet that you can play with, guard your family, and be your best friend.
